The centre pane doesn’t close without a kick, and the rust drips cascading below the kitchen tap cannot be scrubbed away. She picked up powder to clean the refrigerator stains on the brown business carpet, and is expecting the water to begin running again tomorrow when the porter comes back. Will the porter come back? He, when alive, was scaling the peach paint peels plastered on once-white tiles.


陳思穎 Hera Chan is a cultural worker living in Yogyakarta by way of Hong Kong. She is Adjunct Curator, Asia-Pacific, supported by Asymmetry Art Foundation, at Tate. With artistic directors Arin Rungjang and David Teh, she is co-curator with Marisa Phandharakrajadej of the upcoming Thailand Biennale Phuket 2025: Eternal Kalpa.

Formerly, she was Guest Professor at the Korea National University of the Arts. In the Netherlands, she was a participant of De Appel's Curatorial Programme and co-producer of KomBIJ1 TV leading up to the Dutch Parliament elections in 2021. In Hong Kong, she was associate curator of public programmes at Tai Kwun Contemporary and director/curator of Videotage from 2017 to 2018. She co-founded Atelier Céladon in Montreal, speaking with diasporic peoples. Otherwise, she has worked as a researcher and community journalist. Hera was a finalist in Miss Chinese Montreal 2016 and the year after, began her international search for Miss Ruthless.
